Preparation: Create account at Mollie
In order to receive online payments such as payments with iDeal, Creditcard, etc. you need a subscription with a payment provider. We have chosen to work with Mollie. With Mollie, you pay a fixed amount per transaction. There are no additional subscription costs, which makes it very suitable if you want to have only a few payments made via iDeal.
You can register as a new customer on the Mollie website. Next, you will have to go through a number of steps to prepare your account for receiving payments. You will need to enter your company details, create a website profile and activate the desired payment methods. How the process works can be found on the Mollie website.
As soon as your Mollie account has been verified, you will receive an e-mail confirming that you can start with the online payments. In your account you will find a “Live API-key” at your website profile. You can send this key by e-mail to email@example.com and we will activate the link on our side.
Once the connection with Mollie is active, you can let your customers pay invoices online. This can be done very easily:
- Open the customer via the ‘Customer overview’
- At Payment method’ choose one of the following options:
- Online payment – Gives your customer the option to pay online only
- Transfer or Online Payment – Gives your customer the option to pay online or manually
As soon as you create a new invoice for this customer and send it by e-mail from the invoice overview, a link appears in the e-mail. If the customer clicks on the link, they will be redirected to Mollie’s payment platform where they can make the payment using one of the previously activated payment methods. After payment is completed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Mollie and the invoice will automatically be marked as fulfilled in the invoice overview.
