Module Connection with Samsara

With a link between the Transport Management System (TMS) EasyTrans and Samsara, orders can be sent as activities to the Samsara App. When driving the transport orders, these activities can be handled by the driver. When handling, the data from the documents, are automatically processed in EasyTrans. A link between Samsara’s on-board computer systems and the EasyTrans TMS is customised for you so that you can use both systems optimally.

Integration with Samsara

Benefits of using the Samsara integration

When you use the Premium Plus package with EasyTrans Software, it is possible to create a link between Samsara and EasyTrans TMS. With the link between EasyTrans and Samsara, you can easily send orders as routes to the on-board computer. Information from the documents completed by the driver, is stored with the order.

The integration between Samsara and EasyTrans will be setup by our support to optimally adapt to your needs.

Activate the integration with Samsara

To activate the integration with Samsara, perform the following steps:

In the Samsara dashboard, go to ‘Settings -> Apps’.
In the search field, fill in “EasyTrans” and click on ‘Install EasyTrans’. An API token is now created.
Please contact EasyTrans Support to activate the integration with Samsara. Supply the API token in your request.

Prepare the connection

Connecting vehicles

Before you can start sending orders to the on-board computers, you need to indicate in the fleet which cars have the on-board computer.

From the main menu, go to ‘Vehicles’ > ‘Fleet’
Open the vehicle you want to link
Fill in the ‘Samsara VIN’ box. You will find this in Samsara under the ‘Details’ section of the vehicle.
Click ‘Save & Close’ to return to the fleet overview

Repeat the above steps for all vehicles that have the Samsara on-board computer.
Note: Make sure the ‘Samsara VIN’ exactly matches VIN in Samsara.

Connection ready for use

Once you have linked all vehicles to Samsara’s on-board computers, you can enter and send orders.

Send orders to Samsara

Send orders as routes to Samsara

Add a new order in EasyTrans as usual.

From the main menu, go to ‘Planning’ > ‘New order’
Create a new order as usual
Enter the pick-up and delivery addresses under ‘destinations’
Enter the other order details and goods as usual

Send the orders to Samsara’s on-board computer:

Select a vehicle from the fleet linked to the Samsara on-board computer
Click on ‘Save & Close

The data from the order will automatically become visible as tasks on the on-board computer for the driver to start executing. If there are any mistakes so that the order cannot be sent, you will be notified.

If you want to make a change, modify the order and click ‘Save & Close’ again. The changes will be sent immediately and the driver will see a notification of the change on his screen.

Finish orders with POD information

Capture POD information

When the driver arrives at the destination, he can fill in a document using the Samsara App. The document can request information such as delivery details including signature, scanned documents and photos.

When the stop is finished, the delivery time will be logged in EasyTrans. Any information from the document, will be stored together with the corresponding destination.

Once the last destination of the order is completed, the order is signed off. Optionally, an automatic delivery confirmation with POD information is sent to the customer.
